1GHz Intel soon

ZDnet has an article talking about Intels plans on chip development. According to ZDnet, Intel will be demoing a 1GHz P3 in a matter of weeks, not overclocked of course. Intel is also expected to show off their brand new "Willamette" processor and maybe even Timna, a combined CPU, Graphics chip and memory controller. Itanium is also expected to show up, but recent rumors said Itanium had a few problems, so maybe it will be nothing more than a demo. Hinted at by Shugashack

Village Tronic update

MGL notes that VillageTronic has released OpenGL drivers for all their graphics cards from the MP750 up to the MP960. Those of you who have one of these will surely be glad to get those drivers as soon as possible. I'd love to test them, but I don't have any of those cards. The Drop of the Hard stuff also provides a link toMacSimple that discusses how to connect two Macs to the Internet at once, on one connection.

MOSR rumors

MOSR (which was down when I tried) reports that Apple is looking at the possibility to port Darwin to Transmeta's "Crusoe" processor, because they are frustrated with the low MHz Motorola chips (PPC). Of course, since Darwin isn't equal to Mac OS X, and everything is yet but a rumor, I wouldn't swear for anything. One thing is sure though: If the Mac platform gets another processor, the competition that will follow the chip can only help us.
Another point is that Apple developers have obviously changed Minuet's version number to 9.0.2 (from 9.0.1) because they had to rewrite a few things that caused bugs in 9.0.1. I guess that means we'll have to wait until another alpha and beta test run have passed successfully.
