DRAM too cheap

the register got confirmation that DRAM prices are really falling to the very bottom. Gloomy times for manufacturers indeed. Buy your RAM now, it's gonna get more xpensive in Q3/Q4 when demand will ramp up again.

More X-BOX

the register has gotten new rumors about the possibly upccoming X-BOX "console" from Microsoft. The specs are quite impressive, but where is that 3D accellerator? It's all a rumor yet, so don't count the Playstation 2 out already.

Intel snaffu

the register also interviewed some senior developer from INtel, who had just shown of a very early prototype of a 1.5Ghz Willamette chip. However, he said it was unlikely that these chips would start out at that rate already, rather clock in a few 100MHz lower. The Willamette might be the first chip to have 2 clocks inside, the ALU clocking twice as fast as the rest of the chip. There is also some more brabble on Timna and Foster etc...I just don't understand why Intel still wants to stick with RAMBUS for their upcoming platforms. After all you can get between 768 and 1024 MB of SDRAM for the price of one 128MB RDRAM stick. At least here in Europe.
