Analysis

MacAddict talks about some issues there are with the newly announced new hardware products. Especially the iBook SE seems to raise some voices over its price. 200$ for 66MHz and graphite plastics is indeed a little much. And why do all the iBooks lack DV capabilities still? See what MacAddict thinks about this.

DRAM cheap as sh..

the register notes that 64Mbit DRAM chips now sell as low as 5$ per piece. Boys&Girls, this has never been here yet! Maybe there will even be production cuts to stabilize prices a bit.

Apple in/out of Europe

the register notes that after the recent shutting of Apple UK HQ, Apple has now also moved, Germany, Austria and Switzerland HQs to Paris. Apple will also be pulling out of Apple oriented events in Germany. Do they think they can make it with the US and Japan only now? That's a bit too much of "economy" in my opinion.

Security in Sherlock

the register also notes that there is a security hole in Apple's Sherlock Search Engine. During auto plugin-in downloads from FTP servers, Sherlock will freely provide the users e-mail address as a login. This used to be common in earlier FTP times, but nowadays, it could be a users desire not to give out any piece of identity. Expect an update of Sherlock soon:)

MS Opensource

Shugashack claims that Bill Gates said he was looking at opensourcing parts of the Windows Operating systems and even "allow others to develop and sell modified versions of Windows". Either good old Billy is getting tired of all those antitrust lawsuits, or he has lost his mind.
Update: TechWeb already has the story reporting that Microsoft denies Bill's statements. After all, the world didn't get turned over and Microsoft remains as we knew it.
Shugashack also notes that id has "released" a new Quake 3 point release, also for the Mac. As far as I see it those are still beta, but you can get them there

PSX 2 shows up

MacCentral also notes that Sony has shown the PSX2 in Tokyo while Apple was showing off its own things in another hall (where MWT is being held). If you ask me, PSX 2 is butt ugly. But you don't ask me, do you?

Mac OS 9.0.2 out?

MOSR notes that readers report having 9.0.2 preinstalled on their new G4 systems. Also 9.0.3 seems to have been seeded to developers.
