CPU power

xlr8yourmac.com has some first reviews of the iMAXpowr 466MHz iMac CPU upgarde card from Newer, that is obviously shipping now, since there is also a banner for that same kick ass thing. Seems to work splendidly with an iMac GameWizard Voodoo2 as well. Then there are some more scores from a Pismo 500MHZ owner, testing FPS in UT and performance in MacBench. Really cool that Newer is able to ship those cards anyway:)
What is really cool though is the "rumor" that Apple and Creative Labs are teaming up in an OEM agreement, so future Macs might have a Soundblaster Live for Mac built-in (not on the mobo, but in a PCI slot). Think about a G4e with Voodoo5 and Soundblaster Live! straight from the AppleStore...yay...

1GHz in 60 days?

Shugashack notes that in an article over at ZDnet, it is mentioned that AMD seems to be planning on shipping the first 1GHz Athlons in as little as 60days. Tomorrow we'll hear that Intel will ship 1GHz in 40 days, no?

Apple and a console/appliance?

the register seeds some rumor that Apple may be planning to develop a console like appliance, a bastard between Pippin and the iMac maybe. Yet nothing is confirmed, but analysts report on healthy sales expectations and such. Maybe Apple will indeed compete Microsoft on their X-BOX? Or was it Larry Elison's idea?

New Trojans?

MacObserver reports that some Czech Mac dudes seem to have found new trojan horses for the Mac. Luckily Network Associates has been informed and the thing is being looked at.
Our old friend MBDF A/B (a Mac Virus) has been found on some Adobe CD-ROM distributed at MacWorld Tokyo. If you have one of these, make sure to read this information.

Get rid of Aqua

MOSR readers have found a way to deactivate the Aqua UI look under Mac OS X DP3 with res edit. I'm pretty sure that will be the first thing Apple will fix:)

COPYCAT!!!!

This page shows the new PCs from HP. While HP has been advertising with big word like innovation and "back to the roots","invent, innovate" etc... All this garage business attitude, their newest HP Pavilion 9600i are so terribly similar to a B&W or a G4 (It's graphite/translucent), that the word innovation is mere blaspemy. "It's not just an PC. It's an HP"... yeah, an it's stolen too.
