GeForce 2 soon?

the register has some news on nVidia's NV15 chipset, likely to be called "GeForce 2". Creative Labs will be the first company to show a product with the new chipset. It is expected to clock between 180 and 200MHz and should sport a fillrate of up to 1.6 gigapixel. Read more.

IPv6 sooner

the register notes that the move from IPv4 to IPv6 might come sooner rather than later. The new IP standard will allow for 3.4 x10^36 addresses instead of just 4 billion. This should solve some problems that have already arisen in backbone routing and should also solve any future tightnesses in the internet.

XLR8 reduces prices

MacNN notes that XLR8 has lowered its CPU upgrade cards by as much as 120$ and has introduced a new G4 450 upgrade for "only" 1000$. The lowest end model is now a G3 333 instead of the G3 300.

USB 2.0 is coming

MacCentral notes that MicroTek has demonstrated the first USB 2.0 scanner in Tokyo. The new standard, developed by Intel, operates at 480Mbit, but is claimed to be slower than 400MBit FireWire still, due to it's different non-isochronic design.

A joke?

3Dhardware claims that their page has been down because their ISP was using a "Malfunctional iMac" as theur server. That is either the most astounding ISP I have ever heard of, or the worst joke of 2000.
