USB 2.0 is here

the register reports that Intel today will announce (has announceed) the final spoecs for USB 2.0, the successor to USB 1.1 which runs at 480Mb/sec. IEEE 1394, better known as FireWire, currently runs at 400Mb/sec, but is unlike USB truly isochronous most certainly making it faster still, and 800Mb and 1600Mb are waiting in the labs. But it might well reduce FireWire to the Mac platform again, which would suck.
MacCentral has a more in depth scoop yet.
