the register notes that in a very surprising move, Intel has today published full details/specs of their Itanium chip architecture, making it one of the few opensource chips in the world. The move is considered to be an encouragement for porting applications to the new 64bit platform. That might be interesting for many peeps and companies out there. Bravo Intel!
