Quantum graphics

Shugashack notes that Quantum now has announced that they'll be bringing out 8, 16 and 32 chip versions of a new graphics card for highest end machines (not PCs) using the VSA-100 chipset. The possibility of a 32 chip card by Quantum was announced the day VSA-100 was, but so far no further statements had been made. Now the Voodoo5 6000 with its 4 chips looks a little older:)

Itanium, not a customer chip

the register notes that the latest spec sheet from Intel indicate that the 800/266/4MB version of their new Itanium chip is going to cost 4227$ at launch, just the chip and the integrated caches. Who said Macs were expensive?

MacWEEK has more rumors on a possible Mac dedication from nVidia. They are still expected to bring something to the Mac next year.

MOSR

MOSR has some news on Mac OS 9.1 being in development and some stuff about the PowerBook G4. They're thinking about SOI G4s and G4e chips shipping this year, up to 1GHz according to Motorola. We'll see which promises can be kept.
