xlr8yourmac

xlr8yourmac has a reader report on installing Mac OS X DP4 on an (unsupported) 7500 with CPU upgrade. It works, but obviously runs pretty slowly. Other notes note various notes :).

Radeon performance

Shugashack reports that first samples of the ATI radeon card are performing very well, beating a GeForce DDR card even when underclocked by 12%. Looks like we'll get decent standard video in our next major Mac release.

Intel prices

the register has the newest prices on Intel CPUs. The high end chips are still unreasonably expensive. Take a look.

P3 933 w/ RAMBUS

the register also took a look at "a really fast PC", namely a P3 933MHz with RAMBUS RIMMs and all the latest stuff. See what they had to write. (This thing only has 1.244 GFLOPS?, I sure hope those are at least average speeds and not peak...)

Apple stock falling

the register also notes that Apple's stock has fallen to 63% of its all time high (about 150$). I have seen the stock fall for a while now, and many wrote about it already. I'll catch the opportunity and let you know now then. Might be time to buy stock now, at least if you believe in Apple.

Really small

Slashdot reports on a tiny, almost matchbox sized PC that comes with almost everything a true computer needs. The inventors plan to market these thingies now. The time of room filling server clusters might be over sooner than we'd expect.
