xlr8yourmac.com has reports from Voodoo5 owners about some problems and how to solve them, reports from G4 Cube owners who upgraded their harddrives (replaced them with bigger ones) and a comparison of a G4 400 vs a G4 450 MP. And various other things, as always.
the register has the scoop on the upcoming P4 chip from Intel. Some very, very impressive stuff that makes many other chips look a bit old and also a few drawbacks, like a 40W power consumption and huge die size have to be mentioned.
Mac OSX news
the register also has some news from MacUSER UK about how Mac OS X is doing. Looks like another delay, simply because Apple is still working on Aqua to make it as user-friendly as possible. Obviously they don't want (and really mustn't) the final product to fail in the public because it doesn't offer the look and feel we are used to. Tough decisions, both a long delay and an unhappy customer would mean doom for Mac OS X and Apple with it.
Death for Itanium?
the register notes that Compaq has successfully clocked the Alpha chip to up to 1040MHz. With this 64bit chip now also running faster than 1GHz, the Itanium from Intel starts to look a bit weak, with its 800MHz top. We will see what happens next.
