Good news

xlr8yourmac notes that IBM now says the G3 at 700MHz is available (750CX of course), but that is only on the papers yet, nothing confirmed by any representative. Then there are some less interesting news and then some more info on Creative Labs and their upcoming SoundBlaser Live! Mac sound cards. Last but not least id software is clever and will ship Quake 3 Team Arena before Apple officially releases OpenGL 1.2.1 and will stick with 1.1.2 for now. (They want the Xmas sales, betcha). That means we might get it right in time for holidays.

The company we all hate

..and I don't mean Microsoft this time.
the register has some funny statements from Rambus CEO Geoff Tate. Have a taste of the register's bitter sweet comments and Tate's ridiculous claims.

Itanium almanach

SharkyExtreme tells you everything you ever wanted to know about Intel's upcoming 64bit chip "Itanium". Quite an article indeed, but a good read if you're interested in the topic.

AMD experimenting

the register has more news on AMD's CPU efforts. The latest news say that they're working with a new material in place of where ceramics have been used so far (the actual chip I assume) and now have a 1.5GHz Palomino prototype running with only a heatsink. For those of you who didn't know: PC processors stopped working without a CPU fan several years ago (well almost). Apple never had to use a CPU fan. (and never exceeded 500MHz as well, admittably)

Motorola and ARM license

TechWeb notes that ARM is licensing some chip technology for use in Motorola's current and future embedded chip designs. (yeah, you heard right: embedded, no PPC again)

ATI still on track

MacCentral again notes that ATI's Radeon PCI card is still on track and should ship by mid December. I sure hope so for all the B&W G3 users out there, as this might be the best card for them yet.
