G3 faster or not?
MacObserver
took up the news from xlr8yourmac abotu IBMs 700MHz G3s ready to roll. They think however, that we won't see any faster G3 machines from Apple until the G4 also gets faster, as the G3 is the "low end" chip and should thus not run at more MHz than the "high end" G4, at least not for Apple. However, we shouldn't forget the upgrade makers, who might of course get some product out. (Although Im afraid they're dominated by Apple and aren't allowed to ship faster CPUs than Apple can offer).

MOSR
MOSR
notes that IBM may be working on a next-generation G3 (PPC 760) with deeper pipelines, additional execution units etc and fancy. So far so good I thought, but then they also said that a projected MHz ceiling would be 1.5GHz. And that by mid to late 2001. Not that I'd mind faster CPUs, no really, but this just sounds a bit too good to be true.

Apple Vaio clone ahead?
AppleInsider
managed to post a new rumor for MWSF after more than a month of silence. They think Apple might be developing or soon releasing a "sub notebook" like the PowerBook 2400 was, or the Sony Vaio line is. Don't ask me what is indeed going to happen at MWSF. I just know that if some things aren't, someone's going to taste tomatoes.
