PowerPC platform is coming!

xlr8yourmac.com has a link to a page that presents the first fruits of the open PowerPC Platfrom (PPCP, aka CHRP). The System called RioRed is quite amazing: Dual G4 450Mhz, 2MB second level cache per chip, 1 AGP 1x slot, 2 64bit/66MHz PCI slots, 4 32bit/33Mhz PCI slots, up to 2GB RAM. Frankly: Cool!! I wonder what the PPCP brings us and the PowerPC market yet.

Mac Attack?

I just read a litle scary article about a new way hackers seem to be able to jam internet connections for Cable modems or similar high speed connections that use Mac OS 9. The article is quite tech realted, but I think you'll get the meaning of it. Aplple is already working on a patch for OT, to fix the problem. Scary!

Intellimouse Explorer Review

MacWEEK has a review of the famous optical mouse. This review is not aimed at gamers, but you might still want to read it, no? Once this mouse supports InputSprockets (if it ever will), I might consider buying one too. Until then my ADB2 mouse will do fine. Intellimouse Review

Storm

The Storm over Europe continues to blow and while I was sleeping tonight, we again had a power blackout of 6hrs. In France about 57 people have died now, thousands are without electricity all over western Europe. So in case you suddenly find G-News un-updated, I'm standing in the dark again:)
