Blizzard hacked again

the register notes that Blizzards Diablo2 Realms on Battle.net have been hacked again. What seemed to be a bug on Blizzards side now turned out to be a bug on BLizzards side, that was provocated by external hackers, who gained access to high-level characters, by repeatedly trying to log into a character, until the security system failed and granted access. These high level chars where then stripped off their best items and some hardcore characters were even killed. Blizzard is workin on restoring the characters, but this is again proof of how unfinished Battle.net Realms really are. Given this is now at least the second time that the Realms were hacked, which resulted in major damage to the victims, Blizzard should be sued for releasing this swiss-cheese system. I hope they learn their lessons.

1GHz Pentium notebook

the register notes that German (and Swiss too) media chain Media Markt, has announced a notebook running with a 1GHz Pentium 3 chip. This may sound great and fast, but it turned out that it is indeed an FC-PGA chip (those that are used in desktop systems). If that thing doesn't melt after 5 minutes, it's only because the battery only lasts for 4 minutes.

AMD bugs

Speedy 3D has posted an editorial on how buggy most Athlon motherboards are today. Looks like there are some serious AGP timing problems still, as well as hassle with PCI slots and configuration. You see, that's why it's a good thing to have Apple make our hardware anyway.
