xlr8yourmac.com got a detailed report on RAM performance in the new G4 466, almost everything got faster, by as much as 140% plus. Quite nice.
Another reader notes that the DVD-R combo drive "SuperDrive" from Pioneer will soon be available in an external firewire case from a third party for a little less than 1000$.
ATI doing ok
the regsiter notes that ATI's quarterly results are better than they expected and has some news on the products that are due in 2001. I wonder how the Radeon Pro is going to keep up with nVidia's NV20.
Forums and even more forums
MacNN's forums are still being flooded by new messages on various topic concerning the new PowerMacs and PowerBooks as well as the graphics cards. A good source for info and confusion for everyone.
DDR-DDR-RAM (this is not a typo)
Tomshardware noted that a company knwon by the name "Kentron" has successfully developed a very cheap and effective way to double the bandwidth of DDR-SDRAM once more. SDRAM can do 1 bit per clock cycle, DDR-SDRAM does 2 and their new technology now does 4bits. This should definitely kill RAMBUS once and forever.
