Get discounts

xlr8yourmac's notes that Apple seems to give a 30$ discount on Mac OX X final to all Beta Testers who sent in some feedback. That's roughly 75'000 x 30$ = 2'250'000$. Quite nice isn't it?
the register has a more detailed text concerning the offering.

Apple's legal department active again

the register notes that Apple's lawyers have once more sued a website called Stardock, which offers GUI skins for various operating systems. Apple now ordered them to remove any stuff that looks similar to Aqua. Whatever.

Crusoe to go 1000

TechWeb notes that Transmeta's mobile chip "Crusoe" is planned to reach 1GHz clockspeed by the end of the year. That would make Transmeta rank third (?) in the MHz race.

The readers shriek

MacWEEK let's its readers speak again. This time on Mac OS X and how good/bad it is. There are still people who think offering Windows support in Mac OS X would be cool. Yeah it would, just that there is nothing that runs on our hardware and that understand Windows (apart from emulators).

Dream in PDA

MacObserver has a nice picture of what they think a future Apple branded PDA would look like. Very nice I admit.

PCs discover multiprocessing

Slashdot notes that first tests of Dual DDR Athlon systems have shown speed gains of up to 142%. Of course everybody is very surprised. Only Mac users are not, I think. What did they say about "MP is lame" again?

Raskin on OS X

Slashdot also links to an article from Jef Raskin (one of the Mac GUI pioneers), about what he thinks of Mac OS X. He seems to think it's rather a step backwards. Well, whatever you say is right Jef, I want it anyway.
