Sonnet has dropped prices on a few CPU upgrades, however they're still not cheaper than the competition. Duh.

Quake 3 1.27h finally

xlr8yourmac notes that Graeme Devine has finally posted the final version of Quake 3 1.27 - version h that is. According to some feedback the speed boost is impressive, even though there are no Altivec enhancements in it so far. Good news for all G3 owners.
The review page of the G4 733 has also gotten a few updates.

Apple gets feedback

MacWEEK has some reports from Mac dealers talking about the most recently released machines, how they sell and what they think is good or bad about them. I agree there. Good thing a big website like MacWEEK is calling for more speed, as several users I'm talking with have also uttered that desire.

Xtrem still struggling

the register notes that Xtrem, swedish company that annmounced a 1.2GHz G4 Mac last year, has now downgraded the specs of their "has yet to be seen"-machine to 1066MHz. Admittably that's still more than Apple can offer today, also since they offer Dual versions of it too. However David K. Every and I were both right when we said that 1.2GHz were too much of a boost. And that was quite a while back and still they're not able to do it. I'm going to believe it when I see it.

GF 3 under MOX

MacNN talked to a guy from Apples OpenGL team to ask him about the support of the GeForce 3 under Mac OS X. He said that Apple is going to do as much as possible to implement all the features etc.

More gaming stuff

IMG has the .plan file from Graeme on Quake 3 and some more rather sad notes from Creative Labs on the SoundBlaser cards. Still not shipping anytime soon now.
