Various

xlr8yourmac has several tips on Mac OS X, has a link to the English version of the PowerBook G4 400 to 500 mod/hack site (found out by some guys from Japan, thus originally only available in Japanese) and has some massive benchmarking of Quake 3 under Mac OS 9.1 and X, using a Dual G4 533 and both a GeForce 2MX and Radeon cards. Check it out.

Apple to lose Evangelist?

the register claims that Apple's chief developer evangelist, Clent Richardson, may be leaving the company in favor of another (don't worry, not Microsoft). However the claim yet has to be confirmed from Apple.

Notebook sales dip, PowerBooks sell well

the register notes that although the PC market is suffering from diminishing groth in notebook sales, Apple's PowerBook G4 is selling better than any other PowerBook - I can think of - ever did. It is nice, so this doesn't surprise me much.

XLR8 releases OSX drivers!

XLR8 today informed me that they have released their software that now fully enables all functions of their CPU upgrade cards under Mac OS X. With the installation guide of Ryan Rempel (about installing OS X on non supported machines), you can even run OS X on a 9500 with a G3 upgrade now, very nice. The software of other manufacturers has been announced, but not released up to this point of time. Go to their page and grab it right now.
Oh I forgot the most important detail: The software actually works for ALL CPU upgrades with 1MB cache and a 2:1 ratio, not only XLR8's. If that ain't nice, I want to be a PC user.
