Met@box leaving Mac market

Met@box today let me know that they're leaving the Mac business, as far as I understand both the CPU and the FireWire divisions are being pushed off, aparently due to financial problems. Surely a sad story, reminds me of MacTell.

DDR RAM on shelves

the register not only seems to have some problems with a javascript under Netscape (or Netscape with their Javascript maybe), they also report that the first resellers are offering DDR-SDRAM modules now. This should proe interesting for both PC users, and future Macs.

Your RAM is your problem

MacCentral notes that Apple has reacted to the results of their latest firmware upgrades, which turned out to disable RAM modules for several users who had installed third party RAM. Now if you want to get back those 256MB of RAM you lost, I have some bad news: You can't. Apple's position is that the RAM was disabled, because it cannot guarantee proper operation of the machine, and that you have to buy clean RAM, if you want it back. Can't downgrade to an older firmware either (unless you're a crack). That sure is a cocky position from Steve and co.

OS X reviews

Slashdot has some links to some non mac-biased reviews of Mac OS X. Thought you might want to read what the others think of the new OS.
MOSR has some news and an outlook on the first update for that system.
