Shopping spree continued

Heise reports that Microsoft has whiped one more game developer off the market by buying them up. This time it's Ensemble Studios, whi have already worked with MS for several years, releasing Age of Empires etc. Now the company is run onder the flag of Microsoft and is going to work on new titles for the upcoming Xbox console.

Quake 3 news

Shacknews notes that id software has made some comments on teh next point release, which is now said to be released next week (that's in 3 weeks, then) and is going to improve net performance a lot, compressing the data required to 4:1 and also boosting FPS for most people. I sure hope it's also going to fix all the issues with Mac OS 8.6 and 9.1, as well as all the other annyoing bugs.

MOSR has some news around an updated version of the PowerBook G4 Titanium being in the works, fixing a few glitches and improving performance, as well as some theories about Apple buying out Be Inc. (which wasn't bought in favor of NeXT and Steve Jobs several years ago).
