Various

xlr8yourmac.com has of course been posting all the time during my finals and in case you missed it, you might want to fly over the archive headlines over there quickly, just to make sure you didn't miss anything vital. They have a link to a Mac OS X vs. Win 2000 comparison at Cnet, btw.

More IBM revolutions

CNN notes that a new technology from IBM promises for even faster processors in the future. The new technology somehow "stretches" the silicon atoms, making the electrons flow up to 70% faster than before. Don't ask me how an electron can flow faster in one material than another, but it seems to work. IBM, we thank you.
the register has it a bit les complicated.

Smaller transistors

Slashdot notes that Intel has aparently successfully produced a few 0.02 micron transistors. Of course they're still far away from having functional processors with several million transistors, but the progress is visible.

Games

IMG has a lot of stuff about games, among them a preview of Alice, an upcoming 3rd person action game based on the Quake 3 engine (hopefully working better than the current version of the original).
