Quake 3 for Mac OS released
xlr8yourmac reports that id has released Quake 3 1.29f beta for Mac OS X yesterday and already has some benchmarks. As I expected, the "Classic" build isn't ready yet, which is as little of a surprise as it is pleasant. The scores (extracted from a new demo file) tell me that either the build is dog slow, or the demo is extremely demanding.
MacCentral has some more official stuff on the release.
Quake3World Forums for the Mac are already filled with rants and raves on the update...I'm not sure whether that is good or bad.
MacObserver's forums are full of them too, I'm starting to think that I know why they called it a beta release this time...
