the register has a guide on how to fry an egg (a hen's egg) using an Athlon XP1500+ CPU. What many said as a joke, can really be done!

Apple accused for supporting piracy

MacCentral reports that Disney thinks Apple is fostering piracy. Of course not only Apple, but aparently their latest "Rip, Mix and Burn" ad was not to the liking of the film and musix industry. Piracy could be considered a "killer app" in the computer industry, according to Disney.

Mac OS X diary

Slashdot linked to this site a while back. It's a diary of a guy's experiences with Mac OS X and quite funny at that.

Make a gauss rifle

Scitoys has a guide on how to build your own magnetism-driven gauss rifle out of a ruler, a few magnets and several steel balls. Quite amazing what you can do beyond the rubber-band guns at school.

3GIO in future PowerMacs?

Newsfactor considers the idea that Apple may be the right company to introduce a new peripheral interconnect, dubbed 3GIO (3rd generation input/output). What they ignore is that the standard is far from being ready, nor are there any implementations in other platforms so far. That likely gives Apple quite some time to adopt the future standard.

the register reports that Intel is now shipping it's mobile Pentium 4 chips at speeds up to 1.7GHz with DDR support and 400MHz FSB. Looks like Apple is going to lose in the mobile market toonow.

Online Game Store opens doors

MG has opened their own online game store today, probably in an attempt to create revenue. Glad I don't have to think about these things.

WC3 preview

IMG grabbed the PC beta test (multiplayer only) of WarCraft 3 and gave it a try. Their preview ended up having 4 pages. In related news, a little birdie tells me the confidential 5000 copies only beta has leaked in Germany and is being copied wildly in certain circles. But then again Blizzard probably knew this was going to happen.

Translucent case

bit-tech has an article about a guy who made a plexy-glass PC case from scratch. A lot of hard work I reckon, but whether it's really beautiful in the end is up to you to judge. Have a look anyway, it's like a big cube.
