Not totally lazy

AppleInsider Future Hardware Forum has been the place where I spent most of my surfing time recently, observing and occasionally commenting the latest rumors. These said rumors vary from incredibly bad to insanely great and aparently nobody really knows what's going to happen really. Not even DDR-SDRAM support is certain anymore. Anyway, I suggest you have a look at the most popular threads, some contain interesting speculation.

No Hebrew support for Mac IE

the register noted that Microsoft refused to add Hebrew support for its Mac Internet Explorer, despite being offered all the work being done by a third party. Sometimes you have to ask yourself exactly WHAT is needed to convince Microsoft of improving their products. Not that I care about Hebrew support or not, but there are people who do and they are now even more likely to dislike the company. Power by domination vs. power out of sympathy, which one do YOU prefer?

The Busology of 2002

the register also has an interesting introduction to the "Bus War" that is currently going on mostly in hardware discussion forums. Namely: which bus is better than another, which one is best at what, and which one is going to replace the current ones? The answer the regsiter provides is that they're mostly going to coexist and not to compete, since they're all aimed at different platforms and applications, thus mostly working together nicely or not at all, because they don't have to. An interesting read to understand some of the recent rumors at AppleInsider, for example.

Power4 Lite?

the register had an interesting story just a day after the last post about IBM going to introduce some kind of downgraded, lower specced Power4 chips for the lower end markets. Of course the rumormill instantly picked it up and predicted that was going to be the next G5...whatever.

First Xserve benchmarks impressive

Xinet has posted a first small set of benchmark results from an Xserve, comparing it to the older PowerMac G4 server and several Sun systems. It's by far the fastest Dual CPU machine in the list, which is nice.

Your PC, or Microsoft's PC?

the register has another pearl of EULA from the latest Microsoft MediaPlayer patch. Aparently they can now install and disable any software that prevents you from playing certain content. Big brother is watching you BIG TIME. Exactly why have americans always feared communism? And what is happening to them (and the rest of the world) now? Dude, you gotta kill Microsoft, H-bombs at least, now, quick!!!
