Analyst escapes asylum again

News.com has word from Bear Stearns analyst Andre Neff that Apple is going to switch to Intel CPUs within the next 2-4 years. Now of course everyone is titling "Apple to move to x86". That is not going to happen. If Apple is going to switch to another platform than the PPC, then it's going to be something new, like IA-64 or whatever, but certainly not x86. And the "evidence" that Apple owns shares at Intel and is unhappy with Motorola isn't hard enough for me to dig this just yet. We've seen roughly one billion of analysts predict things "for sure", and yet, they all failed. Don't forget Intel is not only the world's biggest CPU supplier, it's also the company behind PCI, USB and a lot of other technologies, that are already part of a Mac's internals, and have been for decades.
